Iditarod Trail Invitational

A true adventure race, with the emphasis on adventure. An event for solo racers on foot, mountain bike or skis, along the historic Iditarod sled dog trail across the Alaskan wilderness from Anchorage to Nome. It finishes in McGrath (350 miles) for most, but some aim to complete the entire trail to Nome (1100 miles). The race starts on the last weekend in February, in the midst of winter, so racers can expect little light and temperatures of -40C and below.

I completed the race to McGrath on foot in 2004. You can read my account of this race and see some photos. There are also the results of the 2004 race and 2005 race, or the current records.

I hope to return in 2006 and try to complete the entire trail to Nome on foot.

Photos are back. The site has had a bit of a new look and the photo pages need a bit more work to get them working how I'd like.
